One of the earliest paintings of my career, “First Light” was painted based on a photo taken on a particularly beautiful morning at my favorite beach. The waves were big and powerful, and the rising sun reflected magnificently off the tops of each break. It even shone through the crest of each wave, glowing green for a fraction of a second before breaking and dissolving into a rush of frothy white foam. I was never able to part with the original, and it hangs currently in my living room, where it transports me daily back to this perfect day.
