This painting was inspired by adventures in the ocean off the coast of Southeast Alaska, where kelp forests dominate the coastline and form romantic, ominous, surreal worlds for us land-dwellers to dream about. The hypnotizing arrangement of these kelp branches are what I imagine mermaids peer through, awaiting their next adventure.
